General information about India
India is located in southern Asia. The seventh largest country by geographic area in the world, the second in terms of population, and the most populous democracy in the world.
It is bordered by the Indian Ocean to the south, the Arabian Sea to the west, and the Bay of Bengal to the east, and India has 7,517 kilometers (4,700 mi) of coastline.

Culture and history

Indian cuisine is characterized by a great diversity of regional styles and the meticulous use of herbs and spices. The staple foods in the region are rice (especially in the south and east) and wheat (mostly in the north).
Spices, such as black pepper, which are currently consumed around the world, are native to the Indian subcontinent. Chili peppers, introduced by the Portuguese, were also widely used in Indian cuisine.
The traditional Indian dress varies across regions in its color and shape and depends on various factors including the climate. The famous form of the dress includes decorated clothes such as sari for women and dhoti or lungi for men, in addition to stitched clothes such as salwar kameez for qurq women and European attire of trousers and shirts for men is also popular .
